On their Christmas CD “King of Glory,” the SMS (Sacred Music Services) men’s chorus has a very nice rendition of this little-known carol.

Your first question brings to mind “My Song is Love Unknown” which has several verses that make the contrast.

Your second brought to mind One Day, Tell Me the Story of Jesus, I Know of a Name (always been one of my favourites), Who is This so Weak and Helpless, and Thou Didst Leave Thy Throne. A lot of good ones.

Thanks. Some good selections. Particularly related to my first question there are quite a number of hymns that contrast Christ’s earlier condescension with His coming triumph. The cross and the crown. I commented on it this morning as I began a series on Bible prophecy. So many hymns about the cross lead appropriately to the Saviour’s victorious return. Hallelujah, What a Saviour!–which we sang as a closing hymn–does that. God bless.
